We Can Play! is Barney Home Video special Movie that was released in theaters in November 22, 1996. This special aired on December 4, 1996 as a prime-time special on PBS. It is released on VHS in March 8, 1997.

Plot

Barney and Mr. Boyd take Baby Bop, BJ, Scooter McNutty and the kids out on a trip to see things we can play!

  • When BJ does the Tarzan yell, BJ's Tarzan yell is the same as SpongeBob's yell from the SpongeBob SquarePants short "The Outfit" (when SpongeBob dresses himself as Tarzan).
  • During the lion scene, Tales from the Swamp composed by Ron Goodwin is used, which would be also used in the Nickelodeon show "SpongeBob SquarePants".
  • During a scene in which Barney, Baby Bop, BJ, Mr. Boyd, Scooter McNutty, and the kids arrive at the shore, Honolulu March composed by Hans Haider is used. It will be also used in the Nickelodeon show, "SpongeBob SqaurePants".

  • When BJ screams after a bee stung him, BJ's scream is the same SpongeBob scream from "The Gift of Gum" (when an underwear tells SpongeBob that he's not Patrick).
  • During a scene in which BJ gets stung by a bee, the music from "The Queen of Make Believe" (when Barney tells the kids that it's going to rain) is used.
  • During a scene in which BJ notices it was the bumblebee trying to sting him, Gator composed by Steve Belfer is used. It will be also used in the Nickelodeon show, "SpongeBob SquarePants".

  • Before the song "Sailing Out Over the Ocean", Barney tells Baby Bop, BJ, Mr. Boyd, Scooter McNutty, and the kids that it's an easy breezy day on the boat.
