  • Barney: Hi everybody! What are you all doing today?
  • Hannah: We're listening to different sounds.
  • (music starts for "Listen")
  • Barney: Oh, it's fun to listen to different things around you. We can listen to the sound of a frog in the water. Listen to the mommy talking to her daughter. Listen to the animals playing in the woods, and listen to the sounds of our neighborhood.
  • Kids: And listen to the sounds of our neighborhood.
  • Barney & Kids: Listen with your left ear, and your right. Listen to the sounds of the day and night. We listen with our ears, that's right.

  • Barney: That's right!
  • Barney & Kids: if we tried to listen with our eyes and nose, tried to listen with our fingers and toes, We'd be all mixed up, and never hear a thing. We couldn't hear a bell ringing ding, ding, ding. We couldn't hear a bell ringing ding, ding, ding. Oh, listen with your left ear, and your right. Listen to the sounds of the day and night. We listen with our ears, that's right.
  • Barney: That's right!
  • (music ends, and BJ enters the school gate)
  • BJ: Hi everybody!
  • Barney & Kids: Hi BJ!
  • BJ: What are you doing?
  • Barney: We're listening to different sounds.
  • BJ: Cool!
  • (they hear a strange sound)

  • (goes in school doors)
  • Maria: Where's he going, Barney?
  • Barney: I don't know. I'm gonna go see!
  • (goes in the school, fades to Barney walking in, and sees BJ with a detective outfit)
  • Barney: What are you doing, BJ?
  • BJ: I'm Detective BJ, and I'm gonna find out where those sounds are coming from! Would you please be my helper, Barney?
  • Barney: I'd be happy to.
  • (music starts for "People Helping Other People")
  • BJ: Thanks!
  • Barney: That's what friends are for! Oh, a teacher is a person who gives help each and every day. If you'd like to help people then being a teacher is A-okay. 'Cause people helping other people is what this world's about. And people like our teachers, we couldn't do with out. Oh, a doctor is a person who gives help each and every day. If you like to help people then being a doctor is A-okay. 'Cause people helping other people is what this world's about. And people like our doctor's we couldn't do with out. • (music ends)
  • BJ: Let's go solve this mystery!
  • (walk out, and fades to them outside with the kids)
  • BJ: Barney, how am I gonna solve this mystery?
  • Barney: Well, your gonna need to use all five of your senses. You see with your eyes, you hear with your ears, you touch with your fingers (music starts for "Five Senses Song"), we smell with our nose, and we taste with our mouths. With our eyes we...
  • BJ & Kids: See!
  • Barney: With our ears we...
  • BJ & Kids: Hear!
  • Barney: With our fingers we can...
  • BJ & Kids: Touch!
  • Barney: With our nose we...
  • BJ & Kids: Smell!
  • Barney: With our mouth we...
  • BJ & Kids: Taste!
  • BJ: I am an eye. Yes an eye is what I am. Sometimes I need some glasses to see the best I can.
  • Barney, BJ & Kids: With our eyes we see, with our ears we hear, with our fingers we can touch. With our nose we smell, with our mouth we taste, now thank you very much.
  • Carlos: I am an ear. If I'm working, you can hear. Please don't put things inside me. I'd like to make that clear.
  • Barney, BJ & Kids: With our eyes we see, with our ears we hear, with our fingers we can touch. With our nose we smell, with our mouth we taste, now thank you very much.
  • Hannah: You know me. I'm a finger that let's you touch. I can tell if it's hot or cold, or if it's smooth or rough.
  • Barney, BJ & Kids: With our eyes we see, with our ears we hear, with our fingers we can touch. With our nose we smell, with our mouth we taste, now thank you very much.
  • Maria: I am a nose. On an elephant, I'm a trunk. With me, you'll smell the difference between a flower and a skunk.
  • Barney, BJ & Kids: With our eyes we see, with our ears we hear, with our fingers we can touch. With our nose we smell, with our mouth we taste, now thank you very much.
  • Stephen: I am a mouth. I'm the one that let's you taste. With me, you'll enjoy your dinner, so it won't go to waste.
  • Barney, BJ & Kids: With our eyes we see, with our ears we hear, with our fingers we can touch. With our nose we smell, with our mouth we taste, now thank you very much.
  • (music ends, and fades to them in the tree house, and they hear the noice again)
  • Barney: There's that noice again!
  • BJ: It's coming from outside!
  • (they go out on the tree house porch, and they look down)
  • BJ: I don't see anything!
  • (they hear an airplane)
  • Barney: Now that sounded like an airplane!
  • (cuts to the sky, and there is an airplane)
  • BJ: Cool! Can we pretend to fly in an airplane, Barney?
  • Barney: Sure! If we're gonna fly in an airplane, I'm gonna have to wear something! (does magic, and he gets an airplane pilot's hat)
  • BJ & Kids: Wow!
  • (fades to them back in the tree house, and their all in chairs)
  • Barney: Okay, passengers, get ready for take off!
  • (music starts for "The Airplane Song")
  • Barney, BJ & Kids: Oh, we are flying in an airplane, looking out the window, watching the clouds go by. Flying in an airplane, looking out the window, up so very high!
  • Maria: Looking out the window, we can see the wings. Down below, we see other things.
  • Hannah: Like little tiny buildings and cars so small. Makes me feel like I'm really tall.
  • Barney, BJ & Kids: Oh, we are flying in an airplane, looking out the window, watching the clouds go by. Flying in an airplane, looking out the window, up so very high!
  • Barney: Pretending I'm a pilot is a lot of fun!
  • BJ: I think when I grow up I really might be one!
  • Stephen: But for now I'm just enjoying being in this plane.
  • Carlos: Going on a trip, and back again.
  • Barney, BJ & Kids: Oh, we are flying in an airplane, looking out the window, watching the clouds go by. Flying in an airplane, looking out the window, up so very high! Yes, we are flying in an airplane, looking out the window, watching the clouds go by. Flying in an airplane, looking out the window, up so very high!
  • Barney: We're coming in for a landing!
  • (music ends, and fades to them on the playground)
  • BJ: I've gotta find a clue!
  • (they hear a firetruck sirion)
  • Barney: There's another sound, but not the one we're looking for.
  • (cuts to a firetruck on the road, and music starts for "Here Comes the Firetruck")
  • Carlos: It's a firetruck's loud siren!
  • Barney: That's right, Carlos! Here comes the firetruck. The people shout,
  • BJ & Kids: Hooray!
  • Barney: The siren tells the cars and trucks to get out of the way. Look at all the flashing lights, and watch the water spray.
  • BJ & Kids: Hey!
  • Barney: F-I-R-E-T-R-U-C-K.
  • BJ: That spells "Firetruck."
  • Barney: I love the firetruck with all it's hoses and ladders, and firefighters off to save the day!
  • BJ & Kids: Hooray!
  • Barney: I love to watch them ride as they hang on to the side of the F-I-R-E-T-R-U-C-K.
  • Hannah: That spells "firetruck."
  • Barney, BJ & Kids: Here comes the firetruck. The people shout hooray! The siren tells the cars and trucks to get it out of the way. Look at all the flashing lights, and watch the water spray. Hey! F-I-R-E-T-U-C-K. F-I-R-E-T-R-U-C-K. Here comes the firetruck. Hooray, hooray, hooray!
  • (music ends, then fades to them at the school, and they hear the sound again)
  • Barney: There's that sound again!
  • Maria: Maybe it's a frog from the meadow.
  • (music starts for "Over in the Meadow")
  • Barney: I don't think so, Maria. But maybe. Over in the meadow, in the sand in the sun, lived an old mother frog, and her little froggy one. "Croak," said the mother. "I croak," said the one. So they croaked and they croaked in the sand in the sun.
  • BJ: Over in the meadow, in the stream so blue lived an old mother fish and her little fishies two. "Swim," said the mother. "We swim," said the two. So they swam and they swam in the stream so blue.
  • Kids: Over in the meadow, in the shade of the tree, lived an old mother duck and her little ducklings three. "Quack," said the mother. "We quack," said the three. So they quacked and they quacked in the shade of the tree.
  • (music ends)
  • BJ: Come on! Let's go find out where that sound is coming from!
  • (fades to them outside)
  • BJ: I got an idea! Maybe if we make something really loud, maybe whatever is making that noice will come out!
  • Barney: That's a Super-Dee-Duper idea, BJ!
  • (uses magic, and they all have band hats, and instruments, and music starts for "The Marching Song")
  • Barney: Let's strike up the band! Oh, when the band begins to play, oh, when the band begins to play. I love to march to the music, when the band begins to play.
  • Barney, BJ & Kids: Oh, when the band begins to march, oh, when the band begins to march. We love to play the music when the band begins to march!
  • (music ends, and Stephen's Dad enter)
  • Stephen's Dad: Hi Stephen!
  • Stephen: Hi Dad! Everyone, this is my Dad!
  • (a dog comes out, and it makes that noice)
  • BJ: Oh! So that's what that noice was!
  • (Stephen's Dad picks up the dog)
  • Stephen: How'd he get here?
  • Stephen's Dad: Back at home, I was gonna give him a bath before you left, and I think he followed you here. Let's get home!
  • Stephen: Bye, everybody!
  • Barney, BJ & Kids: Bye, Stephen!
  • (they walk away)
  • BJ: This mystery is solved, and thanks again for being my helper, Barney.
  • Barney: Your welcome, BJ.
  • (music starts for "I Love You")
  • Barney: I love to solve mysteries, especially with the friends I love. I love you. You love me. We're a happy family. With a great big hug, and a kiss from me to you. Won't you say you love me too?
  • Barney, BJ & Kids: I love you. You love me. We're best friends like friends should be. With a great big hug, and a kiss from me to you. Won't you say you love me too?
  • (music ends)
  • BJ: It was fun being a detective today. I like to solve mysteries. Well, I gotta go. Bye, guys.
  • Barney & Kids: Bye, BJ.
  • (BJ walks away, then dissappears)
  • Hannah: We better go, too. Bye, Barney.
  • Barney: Bye, everybody!
  • (kids walk out the school gate, then zooms over to the Barney doll dressed like a detective, then he winks, and then the screen turns around to the "Barney Says" title card, with Barney running over)
  • Barney: Hello again to all my friends. I'm glad you came to play. Our fun and learning never ends. Here's what we did today. We were listening to different things, then we heard a very strange noice, and Detective BJ was on the case! Along the way, we listened to other different things like an airplane, a firetruck, then we made a band to see if whatever was making that noice would come out. Stephen's Dad arrived, and we saw that the noice was their dog whinning. And remember, I love you.
